Under this large monument and immediately surrounding is Samuel and some family members. At the time of his death Lyons was known as Hudson. Samuel was married 3 times, and buried 3 wives in 3 different other states---Connecticut, New York and Indiana. He lived his last years with his youngest two children in Lyons as a widower. At one time the headstones were all present where now lies a very HUGE monument over the family plot. Some of the very primitive markers were decaying or disappeared, and there were markers for each family member's grave in this family plot. Buried under this very large monument in the old family plot are Samuel Gott, his son Nathaniel William Gott and Nathaniel's two wives Cornelia Johnson Gott and Ann Eliza Sawin Gott and Cornelia's infant daughter Hannah Elizabeth Gott.
So the mystery of Samuel Gott and the others has been solved thanks to a 3rdggdaughter of Nathaniel William Gott that still lives in a nearby state. In 1848, Samuel deeded his farm to his son Edward Logan Gott.

Samuel was a "rolling stone," in every sense of the word. He was always on the move, especially when one of his wives died, he would move to a new state each time. When he finally moved to Hudson (Lyons), Wisconsin he was single and widowed three times having buried his last and 3rd wife in Door Village, Indiana.

Watson William Gott was a very successful grandson of Samuel, and had this huge monument erected to keep the family plot protected.

FAG Member ID, Ron Gott, states, "My Family Records indicate Samuel was buried in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut." Ron Gott continues: "I can find no record of Samuel either being buried in Tolland County, Connecticut or Walworth County, Wisconsin."
