Ernest Herman Bray, 90 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, January 23rd, 2017 at his residence with his loving family at his side.

Ernest was born in Ingle, Kentucky on May 8th, 1926, son of the late Columbus Christopher and Colutha A. Sayers Bray. Ernest was self-employed (Bray's Aluminum), an avid farmer and gardener, a World War II, United States Army Veteran, and a Gideon. He loved his family and was considered a walking Bible, as he could quote many scriptures. Ernest was a member and served in many capacities at the Heritage Hope Church of God (formerly Cotter Avenue Church of God).

Ernest was survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Emma Frances Baugh Bray; one son, Clinton Ray (and wife, Angela L. Hicks) Bray; two grandsons, Justin Ray (and wife, Kelsey Stevenson) Bray and Joshua Christian (and wife, Garianna Woodall) Bray; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer Ray Bray, who was two years old, Mallory Kate Bray, who was four months old, and Taya Spencer Bray, who was four months old; two sisters, Rebecca (and husband, Lyndon) Presley and Pamela (and husband, Mitchell) Cain; four sister-in-laws, Carrie Bray, Mildred Bray, Cindy Bray, and Margretta Baugh; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Christopher Bray, who departed this life on January 16th, 1979 and Colutha A. Bray, who departed this life on January 16th, 1941; three sisters, Vera Redmond, who departed this life on December 6th, 2009, Opal Jane Auterson, who departed this life on May 13th, 2006, and Artie Bray, who departed this life on February 24th, 1934; six brothers, Boyd Bray, who departed this life on March 12th, 2015, Ralph Bray, who departed this life on June 14th, 2012 , Orville Bray, who departed this life on June 9th, 1938, Roger Bray, who departed this life on May 1st, 1974, Rick Bray, who departed this life on October 23rd, 2014, and Owen C. Bray, who departed this life on March 28th, 2012.

Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 at the Heritage Hope Church of God. Visitations were also held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at the Heritage Hope Church of God, prior to service time.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at the Heritage Hope Church of God, with Rev. Johnny Dunbar and Rev. Larry B. Perkins officiating.

Interment followed in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky. Military Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post No#38 Honor Guard.

The Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory in Somerset, Kentucky was in charge of the arrangements for Ernest.
