Remina "Mina" Griffin(1851-1935) was the fifth child of Thomas Chipman Griffin and Rebecca (Rebekah) R. Griffin. She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and had five brothers (Harris, Alonzo, Daniel, Wallace, & Noble) and three sisters (Athelia Hill, Florena "Rena" Stewart, & Annie Frye Remick); a descendent of Mayflower Compact Elder William Brewster. After two generations of Griffins living in Canada, the Griffin family returned to Massachusetts in the early 1860s and settled in Wayland, MA, establishing shoe factories in the area. Mina worked in the family business as did George Churchill, a shoe maker and soldier, whom she married in 1869. They were the parents of: Ada Buffum (1870-1952), Ida Durgin (1872-1895), Ezra O. Churchill (1873-1934), Ella (1875-1894), and Grace Wilson (1882-1976. Mina outlived her husband and three of her five children, and lived with her daughter , Ada in later life. The Churchills are buried near the Griffin family plot at Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
