IN WOODVILLE - Mrs. Delma Creef Bateman, 63, died Monday morning in the Rocky Mount Sanitarium following a 6-month illness. She had been in declining health for the past 8 years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel by the Rev. W.A. Renfrow and the Rev. Keith Nanney. Burial followed in New Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Bateman was a native of East Lake, N.C. and had lived in Woodville for the past 37 years. She was owner-operator of Bateman's Service Center for thirty years and was a member of the East Lake United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Van and Mrs. Lola Alexander Creef and wife of Ronald B. Bateman of the home.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Wesly (Joyce Ann) Ownley, Mrs. Dudley (Dora Jean) White, both of Rt. 2, Elizabeth City; four sons: Donnie Bateman, Carl Wayne Bateman, Ronald Dean Bateman, all of Rt. 3, Hertford, and Gary Bateman of Rt. 1, Elizabeth City; five sisters: Mrs. Grace Whidbee, Mrs. Iris Mae Smith, Mrs. Rethea Joyce Marsh, all of Elizabeth City, Mrs. Marjorie Gail Bafford, New Jersey, and Mrs. Ruby Grimstead of Va. Beach, Va.; three brothers: Bill Creef of Elizabeth City, Gilbert Creef of Riverside, Calif. and Archie Creef of Chapel Hill, N.C.; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
