Church records indicate that he was born in Marshall Township. Baptismal sponsors were Gullick Olson, Halder Knutson, Christi Ellingson, Marta Oldsdtr.

John was confirmed at Little Cedar in 1886. Place of birth was listed as Adams. Date of birth was listed as July 15, 1871.

From the Austin Daily Herald, April 17, 1937:

John Anderson, son of Hans and Ingeborg Anderson, was born July 7, 1871, at Adams, where he spent his childhood days and grew to manhood. He was baptized and confirmed in Little Cedar church. On January 1, 1894, he was married to Christine Huseby. This union was blessed with seven children, all of whom are living.

Mr. Anderson was engaged in farming in Clayton township until 1920 when he purchased a farm near Farwell, at which place he resided until his death.

He wast taken ill the Saturday before Easter Sunday. On Wednesday he was taken to the hospital at Starbuck, where he passed away on Monday, April 5, of pneumonia at the age of 65 years and nine months.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Herbert of Farwell, Arnold of Austin, Joel of Minneapolis; four daughters, Mrs. Selma Skaran and Mrs. Will Gomer of Farwell, Mrs. Le Verne Fox of Washington, D. C., and Adeline of Los Angeles, Calif.; four brothers: Arne, Eddie and Henry of Grand Meadow and Carl of Marian, N. D.; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Knutson of Hettinger, N. C., Mrs. Gus Carlson and Mary of Northfield. Two sisters preceded him in death, Mrs. Sever Rogne and Mrs. John Larson of Marian, N. D.

Funeral services were held at his home and at the church where he was a member in Farwell Thursday afternoon. On Friday he was taken to Adams where funeral services were conducted at Little Cedar Lutheran church for his many friends and relatives here. He was laid to rest in the Little Cedar Cemetery.

Many memorial wreaths were given by his relatives and friends as a token of esteem and respect to a well-loved man.

Mr. Anderson was an (?) farmer and an active member of various organizations beneficial to the welfare of his community.

Pallbearers were his nephews, three sons of Arne Anderson and three sons of Eddie Anderson of Grand Meadow.

According to the burial permit, John died in Mora Township of lobar pneumonia.

John H. Anderson and Christina Huseby were married on 1/1/1895. Attendants were Hans Anderson and Arne Huseby.

BOOK - HISTORY OF MOWER COUNTY, MN. PUBLISHED IN 1911. John H. Anderson, a hardworking farmer of Clayton township, was born in Adams township, July 7, 1872, son of Hans and Isabell Anderson. He was educated in the country schools, and when twenty years of age started in life on his own responsibility. He worked out by the month, then on the railroad and then at the carpenter trade one year. For four years he rented land, and then purchased eighty acres.

He now has 160 acres in section 17, Clayton township, and on this he now conducts mixed farming. He has forty-five head of cattle, which he raises for dairy and beef purposes, a drove of hogs and several head of grade Percheron horses. His house is well located, and an evergreen drive adds greatly to the appearance of the place.

Mr. Anderson is a Republican in politics, has been road overseer two years and treasurer of school district 74 for two terms.

The subject of this sketch was married January 1, 1896, to Christina Huseby, daughter of Arne A. Huseby, of Marshall township, and this union has resulted in seven children: Selma, Ella, Ida, Herbert, Arnold, Adeline and Joel. All except Adeline and Joel are attending school and doing well in their studies. The family faith is that of the Lutheran church.

Hans and Isabella Anderson came to America from Norway and settled in Dane county, Wisconsin. Two years later they came to Adams township and purchased land on which they farmed until the death of Hans A., in 1910. Mrs. Isabella Anderson is now living in Marshall township.
