Mrs. Anderson, Pioneer of Adams Community. Mother of Arne and Ed Anderson over 87 years of age at death.
Adams Review. The Funeral services for Mrs. Ingeborg Anderson, who passed away at her home in Northfield, were held at the Little Cedar Church last Saturday afternoon, Rev. Alfred Breivik officiating. A quartette composed of Mrs. Torgerson, Miss Anderson, Mr. Sathre and Mr. Anfinson, sang two very beautiful anthems. A great number of people turned out to pay their tribute of love and respect for the departed. Her body was laid to rest in Little Cedar Cemetery.
Mrs. Ingeborg Aaberg Anderson was born in Sogn, Norway, May 25, 1841. Her parents were Erick Aaberg and Margarette Aaberg, nee Laa. Here she spent her girlhood days and grew to womanhood.
At the age of 20 she was married to Hans Anderson Naverseth. This union was blessed with 14 children, 9 whom are still living.
In 1867 she came with her husband and three small children to Dane county, Wisconsin. They spent 7 weeks in crossing the ocean coming in a sailship.
In 1869 they moved to Adams, Minn. where together with her family she experienced the hardships of pioneer days. Her husband died 18 years ago. She resided in this village until about 13 years ago when she moved to Northfield, Minnesota to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gust Carlson.
Mrs. Anderson enjoyed a good health until about a year ago, when she began to fail. She was taken seriously ill with a stroke Monday morning, October 15th and died Wednesday at 2:00 pm October 17, 1928 reaching the age of 87 years, 4 months and 22 days.
She leaves to mourn her loss nine children: Mrs. E. A. Knutson, Hettinger, N.D., Arne Anderson, Grand Meadow, Minn,. Mary Anderson Northfield, MN.; Mrs. Gust Carlson, Northfield, Minn; Eddie Anderson Grand Meadow, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Larson, Marion, N.D., Henry Anderson, Grand Meadow, Minn.; Carl Anderson, Marion, N.D., 28 grandchildren and 12 great- grand children. To them the many friends extend their heartfelt sympathy.

Hans and Ingeborg Arnesen (Anderson) of the farm Naversaeter. Hans (Naversaeter) Anderson married Ingeborg Eriksdatter of the farm Aaberg in 1861 in Sogn, Norway.
In 1867 they sailed to America with their three small children: Julia, Maggie, and Arnie. The trip took over seven weeks, all the while they were totally dependent upon the wind. They encountered a calm while in route and resorted to trying an Old Norwegian superstition. Someone climbed the mast and drove a nail into the top of it. Soon a wind started blowing.
After arriving at Long Island, NY, they bought a team of oxen and started out for Dane County, Wisconsin. Possibly Sun Prairie, Wis. Arriving there safely, they spent the next one and a half years working hard to buy needed supplies: Covered wagons, oxen, yokes, feed, etc.
In 1869 they left there to join other friends that had settled near Adams, MN. They encountered another obstacle, that of crossing the Mississippi River. They built an 18x18-foot raft using Burr Oak logs they cut near shore. They wove the logs together using wild grapevines they found growing near by. They were successful in transporting their oxen, wagon, supplies, and family across in one trip. They then pulled their raft to shore, tying it to a near by tree leaving it for others to use.
Hans and family homesteaded about one mile north of Adams, building a 16x30 log cabin on the corner of their land. They had about 160 acres of land, some of which was wooded. Hans and Ingeborg had 10, possibly 14, children.
Hans died June 23, 1910, at the age of 75. Ingeborg died October 17, 1928. She was 87. Both are buried in the Little Cedar Cemetery in Adams, MN. Ingeborg's headstone is attached to Hans' tombstone with wire.
