BIOGRAPHY:
Born April 30, 1968 with twin Aljernon "Allen Jernon" Sidney to David Thomas Orndoff and Elizabeth 'Eliza' (Strowsnider).

After Lucy's mother died (1869-70) and her elderly father unable to care for her, Lucy A. Orndorf, age 2, her twin brother and the rest of the family is disbursed out to family members, friends, foster homes and the Poor Farm.

By 1870, brother Hezekiah (13) and Lucy (2) are living together in their foster parents home, John and Nancy Bedinger, residing in the Capon, Hardy County, West Virginia. Their brother, Joseph (J.A. Orndorf, 16) is living next to them in foster parents Joseph A. and Susan Bedinger household. Their brother Simon H. (11) is living with relatives Elijah and Jemima Sines in 1870, but is later living in the Poor Farm. Sister Hannah (9) is living with their half brother Harrison Orndorff; while Lucy's twin brother is taken to Kansas and raised there.

John and Nancy (Godlove) Bedingers were childless, and often would take children into their home and raise them. Many of them married in the Bedingers home (Lutheran). They always lived next door to Joseph and Catherine (John's father) on the census.

Lucy (12) is still living in their household on the 1880 census 10 years later.

Lucy's brother, Hezekiah named his first daughter 'Lucy A.' presumably after his sister. And Hannah also named a daughter 'Lucille Anna'. I know that my great-grandfather (Lucy's twin, Aljernon 'Allen' taken down into Kansas at age two and raised), spent his life looking for his siblings and especially his twin sister. Lucy's older sister, Hannah and brother Joseph resided in South Dakota.

It is not known at this time what happened to Lucy, where she lived and who she married. Or where exactly she is buried.
