Hugo Klinghammer, 86, died April 26 in Spingfield. Klinghammer was born Nov. 4, 1886, the son of John and Anna Klinghammer, in Bayle City, Ill. He came to Elgin from Illinois with his parents in 1898, where he attended school. In 1914 he was married to Maude Tuttle in Montana. Klinghammer was Union county deputy sheriff from 1924-1956 and Union county sheriff from 1956-1960. Survivors include his son Roy, Springfield; daughter Irma Klinghammer, Ashland; brother, Walter, La Grande; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hart of the First Christian Church officiating. Vault interment will follow at the Elgin Cemetery. Donations in Klinghammer's name to any organization may be left at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel.
