Funeral Services Held Monday For Ida M. Hallgarth

Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, at the Elgin Church of the Nazarene for Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Hallgarth, who died in a La Grande hospital on Christmas day. Rev. Walter Goehring officiated and the services were under the direction of the Daniels Funeral home of La Grande. Burial was in Elgin cemetery.
Ken Lillard of La Grande was soloist at the funeral. Pallbearers were Dick Hibberd, Reid Hibberd, H. A. Krause, Orval Wayt, Fred Buschke and Louie Hale.
Ida Elizabeth Klinghammer was born December 27, 1892 at Bayle City, Ill., and at the time of her death was just two days short of 60 years of age. She was married to Joe Hallgarth at La Grande, on November 27, 1914, and was a resident of the Elgin territory for 54 years. Mr. Hallgarth was a hardware merchant at one time here in Elgin, and farmed here during his life. He died last August.
Mrs. Hallgarth is survived by a daughter, Miss Evelyn Hallgarth of Elgin, and five brothers. They are Otto Klinghammer, Alicel; Charles, Hugo and Walter Klinghammer of La Grande; and Reinhold Klinghammer of Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Presbyterian church.
