Mrs. Cunningham

Mrs. Lela Stiles Cunningham, 80, of 40 Anderson Street, Franklin, died Friday, June 30, in an Asheville Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Judson J. and Ella Bates Stiles and was married to the late Wade Cunningham.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 2, in the First Baptist Church in Franklin, of which she was a member, and interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Officiating ministers were Dr. W. Thomas Lane, pastor, and the Rev. Dick Maples. Pallbearers were her nephews, V.C. Stiles, Fred Stiles, Bill Stiles, Furman Owen, and Gus Baldwin.

Surviving are two sons, a daughter, four brothers, Orville Stiles of Redding, Calif., Henry Stiles of Seattle, Washington, Claude Stiles of Brevard, and George Stiles of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Penland of Oregon and Mrs. Helen Rogers of Brevard; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
