Funeral for Smith's Bridge Man Held at Coweeta Baptist Church.
Judson Davis Stiles,74, well known farmer of Smith's Bridge township, died June 24,1936, at his home on Route 2, and funeral services were conducted at the Coweeta Baptist Church.
Mr. Stiles had been in declining health for several weeks.
The funeral was conducted by the Rev. W. M. Burns, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church; the Rev. J. A. Flanagan, pastor of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. J. B. Tabor, Methodist pastor in charge of the Macon circuit. Burial was in the Coweeta cemetery.
Mr. Stiles, some years ago was in the mercantile business at Prentiss and he had served as township road overseer and school committeeman. He had been a member of the Coweeta Baptist Church for 55 years. He would have been 75 years old on July 13. He was the son of the late David Stiles and Evaline Justice Stiles, of this county, where he spent his entire life.
Mr. Stiles' wife who before marriage was Ella Bates, died eight years ago. He is survived by 12 children as follows: Seven sons, J. B. and Orvil Stiles of Redding, Calif.; Henry Stiles, of Washington; Tom Stiles, Franklin Route 2; Claude Stiles, Dillard, Ga., George Stiles, Franklin Route 2; and Verrell Stiles, Enka; five daughter, Mrs. Mae Gray, Route 2; Mrs. Hermie Lawson, of Washington; Mrs. Lela Cunningham, Franklin; Mrs. Sadie Penland, of Washington and Mrs. Helen Rogers of Franklin Route 2. He is also survived by a brother, George T. Stiles, of Franklin, 39 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
