He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving as an aviation mechanic. He was a retired insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance Agency in Waynesville. He was known for his friendly service, and no client was just a client; he was a friend of Bill Cunningham. He was also a real estate broker and the developer Fairway Hill Subdivision in Waynesville. He was a member and served as a deacon of First Baptist Church of Waynesville and was active in many service clubs over the years. He was also a devoted fisherman and family man.
