William Stalcup Cunningham, age 86, 95 Balsam Drive, Waynesville, NC was born in Macon County, NC on May 16, 1916 and passed away Sunday October 13, 2002 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Franklin, NC, he was the son of the late Wade and Lela Stiles Cunningham. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Whitaker, and a brother, J.C. Cunningham. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving as an aviation mechanic. He was a retired insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance Agency in Waynesville. He was known for his friendly service, and no client was just a client; he was a friend of Bill Cunningham. He was also a real estate broker and the developer Fairway Hill Subdivision in Waynesville. He was a member and served as a deacon of First Baptist Church of Waynesville and was active in many service clubs over the years. He was also a devoted fisherman and family man.

William's middle name was after his Grandmother's maiden name.
