Mr. Samuel Wayne Greise, 72, of Cumberland, MD. died Tuesday at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Greise, born in Cumberland, MD; was the son of the late John R. Greise, Sr. and Elsie Irene Dermer Greise. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, John R. Greise, Jr., Tom Greise, and Edward Greise; and five sisters,, Catheriine Shobe, Regina Lechliter, Rosalie Beck, Theresa Edminston, and Vera Yost.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #307 with 47 years of service having worked at Queen City Electric and taught local apprenticeship school for several years. He was a member of Graceland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Valerie Dowden Greise of the home; a son, Charles Messick and wife Terena of Andros Island, Bahamas. two sisters, Elenora Shobe of Winchester, VA; and Agnes Edmiston and husband Skip of Rawlings, MD; and three grandchildren, Kayla, Jade, and Chase Messick.


The family received friends 5-8 PM, Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the funeral home.

The funeral services were held at 11 AM, Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Adams Family Funeral Home Chapel in Cumberland with the Rev. Daniel Twigg officiating.

Burial was made with Military Honors in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, MD.
