KENYON -- The funeral for Alma Musgjerd will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vang Lutheran Church in rural Dennison, with the Rev. Gerald Gengenbach officiating. Burial will be in Little Cannon Cemetery.
Mrs. Musgjerd, 99, of Kenyon, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2006) at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Alma Gemine Odegaard was born May 13, 1907, in Holden Township, Goodhue County. She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1925, completed Normal Training and taught in rural schools in Goodhue County for several years. On July 20, 1929, she married Tosten Musgjerd at her parents' home. The couple farmed in Holden Township until her husband's death on April 5, 1970. She moved into Kenyon, where she worked at the canning company and was a cook at the Kenyon Sunset Home. She was a member of Vang Lutheran Church, and enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Sonia Gunhus of Zumbrota and Alice (Bob) Adamson of Rochester; a son, Obert (Joan) of Kenyon; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, a grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
