Esther Grace Fitzwater Bozarth, second child of Joseph L. and Millie Jane [Davis] McLain, was born July 17, 1894, at Davis City, Iowa, and died Nov. 9, 1996, at the Lamoni Manor in Lamoni, Iowa, at age 102.
Grace grew up on a farm south of Davis City. She married Earnest Fitzwater on July 16, 1913. To this union two sons were born, Harley Leroy and Gerald Raymond. After living in Davis City, Grace and Ernie moved to Kellerton, Iowa, where Ernie continued as a carpenter and painter. Grace raised Black Angus cattle.
Her husband Ernie died March 24,1976. Grace married Charles W. Bozarth Sept. 4, 1979, in Kellerton, Iowa. They moved back to Davis City. Charles died July 22, 1983. Grace continued to live in Davis City until entering the Lamoni Manor nursing home 11 years ago. She was a member of the Davis City Assembly of God Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, Ernie Fitzwater and Charles Bozarth; son Harley Fitzwater on May 24, 1948; three brothers; Stephen, James and Charles McLain; three sisters; Mary Ambrassat, Nellie Fitzwater and Veta Hanie.
Survivors include her son Gerald Fitzwater, Lincoln, NE; grandson Mitchell Fitzwater, Lincoln; two sisters; Birdie Ordway, Wichita, KS, and Madge Rue, Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law Retha McLain, Des Moines; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
