Obituary from the Salt Lake Tribune:

"John William Sollis, 48, engaged in the transfer business here for many years. Died at a local hospital of heart disease.

He was born in Salt Lake City, July 14, 1889.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Griffin Sollis; his mother, Mrs. Annie [Sollis] Davey; his father, John William Arnold; two daughters, Mrs. C. W. Newson and Mrs. Howard Adamson; six sons, Walter Edgar, Donald Frederick, Dale Eugene, Earl Verner, Dean LeRoy and Gene William Sollis, all of Salt Lake City; a sister Mrs. Bertha Munro of Los Angeles and seven grandchildren."

John W. Sollis was born as John William Arnold Jr. - from family records information and the knowledge of his children. He was reared by his maternal grandparents and assumed the name of Sollis (never legally adopted by them). He also had many half brothers and sisters from second marriages of both his mother and father.
