CHESTER — Elsie Lavadar Cookson Gaston, 63, of Palmetto Village, formerly of 1926 Marshal Byers Road, Chester, wife of William David Gaston, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Chester County Hospital.
A native of Lockhart, she was born Sept. 28, 1940, a daughter of the late David Frank Cookson and Hazel Davis (Deal) Cookson.
Mrs. Gaston attended Lockhart schools and was a homemaker. She attended West Chester Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Lisa G. Wade, April Gaston and Angela Gaston, all of Chester; three grandchildren, Chris Gaston, William Wade and Ashley Wade, all of Chester; a brother, Harold "Bud" Cookson of Union; and four sisters, Gail Turner, Betty Tice and Faye Miller, all of Lockhart and Hazel Fowler of Jonesville.
Mrs. Gaston was predeceased by a daughter, Melonie Gaston, two sisters, Irene Rash and Ruth Deal and two brothers, Talmadge Deal and James Deal.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester by the Rev. Jeff Williams.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to West Chester Baptist Church, 1898 Pinckney Road, Chester, S.C. 29708.
