Born in Scott County, Va. on March 13, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Mitch and Ellen Babb Dingus.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hudson H. Darnell in 1992; five daughters, Joyce, Mable, Claudia, Jackie and Bonnie Lou Darnell; and three sisters, Lulla Darnell, Myrtle Laney and Mary Begley.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jessee (Carolyn) Sergent, Mrs. Kyle (Kathy) Corder and Mrs . Donald (Velma) Starnes, all of Dungannon, Va. and Mrs. Charles (Zella) Taylor, Bristol, Va. ; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Billy Darnell, Clinchport, Va., Howard and Loraine Darnell, Delmar and Wanda Darnell, all of Dungannon, Va., 21 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandch ildren; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Hazel) Carter and Mrs. Gracie Lawson Frazier, both of Ft. Blac kmore, Va.; three brothers, Willia, Roy and George Dingus, all of Gate City, Va.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home and anytime at the residen ce.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funer al home with the Rev. William Berry, the Rev. Fred Starnes and the Rev. Joe Greear. Music wil l be provided by Junior Smith and the Family Tradition. Burial will be at the Carter Cemeter y on Stoney Creek. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
