Mr. DeBroeck was born June 1, 1919, in Shreveport, LA, and returned to our Lord on Friday, February 23, 2007, after a brief illness.
Uncle Paul was a strong man of faith and integrity with love for God, family, and country. He will be forever missed and always remembered.
Paul graduated from St. John's High School, attended Loyola University of New Orleans. He served his country proudly during World War II, as part of the 204th AA Battalion, with an honorable discharge as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a member of LA National Guard. He retired from Ark-La Gas. As a member of St. Catherine's Church, he served as of a member of the Men's Club, various boards, past member of the Parish Council, worker at the Community Center, and food give away program. American Legion Post #6 was proud to call him a loyal member. He was past board member of the St. John's Parish Credit Union. Always interested in sports, he coached many boys and girl's youth teams and was very active in the community. He received a Diocesan Award from Bishop Friend for his services.
Due to his loving and giving nature, his body has been donated, at his request, to the LSU Health Science Center.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary "Mickey" McCrea DeBroeck; his second wife, Clyde Mitchell DeBroeck; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter DeBroeck, seven brothers, Raymond, Joseph, John, Harold, Henry, and Julius "Nuffy" DeBroeck; and one sister, Marie DeBroeck McGowan.
