Obituary from the Shreveport Times newspaper, Dec. 8, 1996, Sunday, p. 28:

SHREVEPORT – Services for Mrs. Clyde Mae Cato Mitchell DeBroeck, age 72, will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 1996, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, with burial at Centuries Memorial Park. Father William Spencer will officiate. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 1996 and a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. at Rose-Neath’s Marshall Street Chapel. Mrs. DeBroeck died at the Retirement Village at Spring Lake on Saturday, December 7, 1996, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Hanna, Louisiana, on October 20, 1924. She was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. Mrs. DeBroeck was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Wortman Cato and Ethel Collins Cato, a sister, Ethel Cato Bishop, a brother Marion Clay Cato, and her first husband, Paul Calvin Mitchell, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Paul A. DeBroeck; her four children and their spouses; six grandchildren; two sisters, Florence C. Lookenott and husband Don of Shreveport; and Jean C. Ricketts of Bedford, TX; and one brother, Andrew Wortman Cato of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Hospice of Shreveport, Dr. Alan Borne, Spring Lake Nursing Home and to Clyde’s caregivers for the last few years, Nancy Kersey, Jo Griffin and Eunice Maiden.

The family requests that memorials be made out to St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 331 East 71st Street, Shreveport, LA 71106, the Northwest Chapter Alzheimer’s Association, 865 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA 71101, Holy Angels School, 10450 Ellerbe Rd., Shreveport, LA 71106 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
