George B. Clayton, 73, of Des Moines, died of a stroke Friday at his home following a week's illness. Mr. Clayton was born in Van Meter and was a feed salesman for the past 14 years for the Pioneer Laboratories, Inc. He attended public school in Van Meter and in Earlham before moving to Des Moines about 23 years ago. He was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Letha Clayton, four sons, Henry W. and Robert H. both of Des Moines; Edward of Indianola and Roger of Reading, Penn.; two daughters, Mrs. Ted Burnett of Rockport, N. Y., and Mrs. George Haefner of Rochester, N. Y., three brothers, Roy and Ben of Van Meter and John of Dexter and one sister, Mrs. Guy Pitzer of Van Meter and ten grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services were held Sunday, Feb. 3, 1952 at 3:30 P.M. at the Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter and burial at the Clayton cemetery near Van Meter. The nephews acted as casket bearers.
