WILLIAM JACKSON SIRES
William Jackson Sires, 83 of Brunswick, died Oct. 17, 1996 at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.
He was born in Roanoke on Jan. 12, 1913, the son of Grover and Laura (Patterson) Sires. He married Helen Lucille Billups on Dec. 6, 1942 in Brunswick. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving a Purple Heart. He then returned to the Brunswick-Triplett area where he worked as a farm hand for several farmers. Mr. Sires also worked for the Ray-Carroll Co-op Elevator in Triplet.
Jack was a member of the Brunswick Christian Church and Rucker-McAllister American Legion Post No. 7.
Mr. Sires is survived by his wife of the home; one son, William Everett Sires; two foster daughters, Liz Pope Buck of Salisbury, and Kay Pope Buck of Cairo; two sisters, Carnie May Fowlk of Moberly, and Fannie Sue Ireland of the state of Virginia; three brothers, Harry Fray Sires of Moberly, Foster Sires of Liberty, and Frank Sires of Norfolk, Virginia; and four foster-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a son, Dennis Ray Sires on July 15, 1975, and a brother, Jim Sires.
Funeral services were held Oct. 20 at the Heisel-Koch Funeral Chapel in Brunswick with burial in the McCullough Cemetery in Triplett.
