Mae Gene, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newton Childs, who live a quarter of a mile east of here on the High Street road, died this morning at nine o'clock. She had been ill for the last six weeks with intestinal trouble, but her condition was not thought serious until last Wednesday. This morning the child seemed much better but she suddenly became worse and died within a few minutes. She was the youngest of nine children, another baby having died when only a few weeks old, and was born May the eighth, 1917.

The funeral will be held at the family home Thursday morning at ten o'clock, and the body will be laid to rest at the Cana, Jennings county, cemetery. Seymour Democrat

Inscription

Could not find a marker for May Gene but there was a large open space between Newton and Ethelyn's stone which is likely to be burial site for Mae Gene and the infant who previously died at birth.
