Harold Williams Sr., 87, of Elkton, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at his home.

Arrangements are being handled by Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

Harold Williams, Sr., 87, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, at his home in Elkton. He was born September 15, 1928, in Elkton and was the son of the late Everette and Della Becks Williams.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Meldora Davis Williams, in 1986; six brothers, Curry Williams, Thomas Williams, John Williams, Hoover Williams, Clyde Williams and Robert Williams and five sisters, Doris Cubbage, Marie Whisonant, Maggie Brown, Beulah Williams and Frances Anderson.

Mr. Williams was a corporal in the United States Army and served in Korea. He was a longtime member and deacon at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Elkton and retired from Frazier Quarry in Harrisonburg after 44 years. Harold, in his retirement, worked with the U.S. Forest Service Senior Program in the Lee Ranger District for ten years. He enjoyed his garden, hunting and was a avid baseball enthusiast.

Surviving are his sons, Harold Williams Jr. (Karen) of McGaheysville and Richard Williams of Elkton; four daughters, Viola Humphries (Isaac) of Lanham, MD, Lillie Brown (Ernest) of Stafford, VA, Vinda Anderson (Glenn) of Penn Laird and Arlene Williams of Elkton; brother, Eddie Williams of Maryland; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the loves of his life; numerous nieces and nephews and five sisters-in-law.

The Rev. Francis Belle will conduct a funeral service 11am Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 5197 Bryant Hollow Road, Elkton, VA 22827.
