Gilmore died Wednesday in the Baptist Hospital after an extended illness. A native of Rankin County, he had been a resident of Jackson a number of years. He was owner and operator of Gilmore Trnasfer before his retirement, and a member of Griffith Memorial Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Boehle Gilmore; two sons, Johnie Gaston Gilmore Jr., of Yuma, Anzonia, and Xavier M. (Sonny) Gilmore of Jackson; three daughters. Mrs. Joe T. (Frances) Childs of Zion, Ill., Mrs. Robert L. (Orva Ester) Ayhens of Santa Barbara, Calif, and Mrs. Jack (Joan) Holmes of Jackson; one sister, Mrs. D. B. McPhail of Jackson; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be, Tommy Childs, Wardell Holmes, Bob Henderson, Bill Gilmore. Ronnie Gilmore and Billy Barrett.
