OBITUARY: MRS. GERTRUDE NELSON.

Mrs. Gertrude Nelson, 70, died at her home in Jackson county Monday morning, after an illness of 15 weeks. Mrs. Nelson was born in Stavanger, Norway, Oct. 19, 1847 and came to this country when 9 years of age, settling in Dane county where she lived several years, and where she met and married her first husband, Tore Thompson, who died in May 1872. By this union four children were born, three of whom are living, Mrs. William Ledtke, Middleville, Mich., Mrs. Nellie Beste, Idaho, and Arnie Thomson of Jackson county. In December 1874 she was married to Louis Nelson, who died in May 1909, and to them were born ten children, eight of whom are living. They are Mrs. Lovina Watson, Jackson county, Nels Nelson of Idaho, Mrs. Annie Riley of Minnesota, Mrs. Julia Duby of Jackson county, Mrs. Emma Crave of Jackson County, George Nelson who is with the colors in France, Hartwig and Oscar Nelson are still at home..

Mrs. Nelson had always lived on a farm. She was a staunch member of the Norwegian Lutheran church. She was a woman with many friends and few enemies. Funeral services were held at the home, and Wednesday, and burial was in Johnson cemetery [now named Hillcrest cemetery]....

CARD OF THANKS: We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors for their sympathy and kindness during the recent illness and death of our beloved mother. Mr. and Mrs. Arney Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Hartwig Nelson, Mr.and Mrs. Herman Crave, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Watson, and Mrs. and Mrs. Ernest Duby.
