Death of Mrs. Josie C. Elder.
Mrs. Josie C. Elder, the widow of Rev. Thos. H. Elder, who died Nov. 2nd, 1915, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Lane, LaFayette, on Friday of last week. Interment was made at New Hope Church, two miles north of Milltown at 11 o'clock on Saturday, after funeral services conducted by Rev. G. D. Hunt assisted by Rev. H. R. Arnold and Rev. L. A. Holmes. The deceased was 69 years, 1 month and 7 days of age, having been born in 1849. Before her marriage, she was Miss Josie Love. Mrs. Elder leaves the following children: Mr. Doc C. Elder, Milltown; Mrs. W. L. Osburne, Lanett; Mr. S. W. Elder, Roanoke; Mrs. V. A. Kitchens, Double Head; Mrs. J. W. Lane, Lafayette; Mr. J. T. Elder, Fairfax; Mrs. C. J. Birdsong, Double Head; Mr. J. W. Elder, Wedowee. The deceased was a faithful member of the Christian church and distinguished for her piety and devotion. A most affectionate wife and mother, a kind and gracious neighbor, she will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
