He was born in Columbus, Ky., son of the late Charles Boyd and Josie (Greer) Cole.
He married the former Lela L. Crane on June 5, 1932, in Kentucky and she died Feb 10, 1967.
Cole as employed at Skaggs Restaurant in Wood River as a custodian for 15 years and retired in in 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Hilda J Hamilton of Hartford; a son, Bobby B. Cole of Cottage Hills; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Nay of Columbus, Ky.
Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto, where the services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Calvin Reynolds officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
