Alton Eugene Heard, 80 of Ardmore, Alabama died on Friday, July 10, 2015, at Huntsville Hospital. Born Wednesday, January 16, 1935 in Toney, Alabama, he was the son of the late Murphy Heard and the late Gracie Broadway Heard. He was a lifelong resident of Ardmore, AL "Black Cat Community". He was employed by Teledyne Wah Chang for 42 years before retiring in 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Tony Heard, brothers: Hubert, David, and Elmer Dean Heard, and sisters: Odell Bishop, Lola Mae Ferguson and Opal Hereford. Surviving are his wife of 59 years: Peggy Heard of Ardmore, AL, sons, Tim (Jana) Heard of Toney, AL and Danny (Sandra) Heard of Rogersville, AL, daughter, Sherry Heard of Ardmore, AL, brother, Harvel Heard of Ardmore, AL, sisters, Kathleen Marberry of Ardmore, AL and Marjorie Jones of Fayetteville, TN, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 13, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Rev. Dale Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
