Anna Lou Peters Crittenden was born on September 23rd, 1945 in Leach, OK, the daughter of Sam and Lucretia (McCarter) Peters.
She grew up in a household with ten brothers and sisters and attended school at Kansas, OK. On October 13th, 1963, she married her husband and best friend, Gerry Crittenden at the Illinois River Baptist Church. This union was blessed with seven children and 48 years of happy memories.
Anna was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and a faithful member of the Long Prairie Baptist Church, supporting her husband, Gerry, who served as Deacon there for 33 years. Anna contributed her time and talents serving her church and family in any way she could. Anna worked hard to make her home a peaceful place for her family to grow. She could often be found in the kitchen making her specialties, biscuits and gravy, goulash, fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, salmon patties, and Gerry's favorite, raisin pie. She was gifted with a needle, and all of her children had one of her homemade quilts to rest in. She tagged alongside Gerry and loved to go to the many Gospel Singing events, fishing, watch OU football, and the best for her, was attending any event that featured one of her grandchildren, cheering them on at a game.
Her family was all Anna needed to be happy. Anna was strong willed, opinionated, and spit fire feisty. Gerry passed from this life in 2012. Anna began failing in health, but her spirit remained as strong as ever. The Lord called Anna to her Eternal Home on June 29th, 2015 at home, with her loved ones by her side. Anna was 69 years old.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerry, three brothers, Jimmy Peters, Sam Peters Jr., and Edward Peters, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 6 children. She leaves her 7 brothers and sisters, The light of her life, her 16 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3rd, 2015 at noon at the Reed-Culver Chapel with Deacon George Cochran officiating. Interment will be held at Long Prairie Cemetery in Kansas, OK.
