Graveside services for Jimmy Peters, 67 of Twin Oaks, will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at 10:00 AM at Elm Cemetery in Leach.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove. Jimmy died Saturday, May 25. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Locust Grove.

Jimmy was born on November 11, 1946 in Rocky Ford, OK to Sam and Lucretia (McCarter) Peters. He passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2014 at his home at the age of 67.

Jimmy grew up and attended school at Leach until the 8th grade then attended high school at Oaks. Less than one month before graduating from high school, he was drafted into the Army. He joined the Army on April 12, 1967 and served his time in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on May 10, 1972. Jimmy was very proud of his military service and loved the fact that he was an American. He shared his love of country with his family and friends and left no doubt that he was a true patriot.

Jimmy married Ella Mae Russell on February 23, 1971 in Leach; they made their home in Leach and had six children. Jimmy went to work for Allen Canning in Siloam Springs, working there for over 20 years before retiring in 2002. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time fishing and taking care of his grandkids and loved just sitting on his front porch.

Jimmy attended the Long Prairie Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Ella Mae of the home; seven children, Mike Israel and wife Amy of Leach, Grant Hardy and wife Tammy of Rose, James Peters and wife Suelynn of Twin Oaks, Jimmy Peters Jr. of Leach, Robie Peters and wife Darlene of Riley, Kansas, Robin Peters of Twin Oaks and Christian Peters of the home; 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and I half brother.
