Bert Peters was born on January 12th, 1960 in Claremore, OK, the son of Sam and Lucretia (McCarter) Peters Sr. He attended school at Leach.

He worked in Maintenance for Allen Canning Company beginning at age 18 and briefly worked with Fowler Excavation and continued on with Allen's until his health no longer allowed him to work.

His spare time was spent hunting and fishing. He loved camping in the great outdoors and spending time with his many nieces and nephews enjoying life along the river.

He was a gifted mechanic and able to take a car apart and put it all back again. There was nothing better for him than to spend an afternoon attending the car shows, gun shows and abundant flea markets in the area.

Bert loved life and everything in it. He was so easy going and friendly. There was always time to share a laugh or two with someone and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and was content just as he found them.

Even after his health had failed him, he remained upbeat and positive, never giving in to self pity. He liked watching TV and enjoyed big foot documentaries. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He adored his brothers and sisters, and their children were treated like they were his as well. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his labors on Saturday, February 18th, 2017 at his home in Leach, OK. He was 57 years old. Bert will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, four brothers, Sam Peters Jr., Ed Peters, Jimmy Peters, and Abel "Bossy" Cummings, and his sister, Anna Lou Crittenden, as well as his grandparents, Joe McCarter and Jennie Blackfox, and John Peters and Eliza Proctor.

Those left to celebrate his life include his brother and sisters, John Peters and wife Paula of Kansas, OK, JoAnn Chupco and husband Sam of Glenpool, OK, Norma Cochran and husband Jim of Houston, TX, Adlynn Fields and husband Billy of Twin Oaks, OK, Brenda Fowler and husband Bob of Tahlequah, OK and Donna Thompson and husband Mark of Decatur, AR. Bert also leaves his many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
