Jeremiah "Jerry" YORK III is the first child of ten children born to Semore YORK I and his wife Sylvania L ALDRIDGE, daughter of William ALDRIDGE I and his wife Elizabeth.
This is based on the research of Darnell Harton Griffin, Linda Allred Cooper and Dennis York.

Sarah ALLRED married Jeremiah YORK III about 1776 in Colonial Guilford (now Randolph) County, North Carolina.

Sarah ALLRED and Jeremiah YORK III were the parents of thirteen children:

1. Seymore YORK, b. 1777 NC; d. 1859 GA
2. Dorcas “Darkis” YORK, b. 1779 NC; d. 1860 GA
3. Sylvania Elizabeth YORK, b. 1781 NC; d. 1860 IN
4. John “Crabtree’ YORK, b. 1782 NC, d. 1870 IN
5. Tobias YORK, b. 1784 NC; d. 1824 NC
6. Sarah “Sallie” YORK, b. 1787 NC; 1858 NC
7. Jeremiah YORK, IVb, b. 1789 NC; d. 1859 GA
8. Alsy YORK, b. 1791 NC; d. 1870 NC
9. Barnaby “Barney” YORK, b. 1794 NC; d. 1867 IN
10. Jabez YORK, b. 1794 NC; d. 1849 NC
11. Margret ‘Ann’ YORK, b. 1797 NC; d. 1875 NC
12. Jane “Jenny” YORK, b. 1800 NC; d. 1875 TX
13. Huldah Pennah YORK, b. 1805 NC; d. 1880 NC

2. Darnell Harton Griffin has documented that Jeremiah YORK and his wife Sarah ALLRED were in Grainger County, Tennessee by 1799 per the early Tennessee Tax Lists Records, See Footnotes, 979, 980 and 981 within note 1 Book page 248. above.
3. Based on the birth of Jane “Jenny” YORK, b. 1800 NC; d. 1875 TX; her tombstone is inscribed "Born in Randolph County, North Carolina". This supports and suggests that Jeremiah YORK returned from Grainger County, Tennessee to his native Randolph County, North Carolina where two additional children were born. Perhaps Sarah ALLRED was not agreeable to live in Tennessee but pursued her husband Jeremiah YORK IIIa to return to their native Randolph County, North Carolina.
