OBITUARY: MARSHALLTOWN TIMES-REPUBLICAN - TUESDAY - 18 JUNE 1946 - PAGE 11 - MRS. FRANK E. SHAFFER, 63, DIES IN HOSPITAL HERE - Mrs. Frank E. Shaffer, 63, 307 West Linn street suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her home Tuesday and was taken to St. Thomas Mercy hospital where she died at 8:15 a.m. She had been ill a month. She was born Theresa Arts July 11, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Arts near Galena, Ill., and had lived most of her life in Marshalltown with the exception of a few years at Haverhill. She married Frank E. Shaffer Dec. 31 1907, in Marshalltown. She was member of St. Mary's Catholic church, St. Elizabeth society and was president of the Women's auxiliary of Labor No. 3. She is survived by the widower and one son, Edwin Shaffer; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Dawson, and Mrs. Don Weyker; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Jentzen and Mrs. Clyde C. Carpenter, all living here, and 10 grandchildren. Another son, Gerald, and eight sisters preceded her in death. St. Elizabeth's society will recite the Rosary at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Wagner funeral home and the public Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic church. Burial will be in Riverside.
