THE PARIS NEWS, Jan. 27, 2002

Charles H. Cotton' Long, 68, of Paris, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital South.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Millsap officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Long was born July 22, 1933 in Lamar County to Jonathan Levi and Rosie Lee Corn Long.

He was married to Mavis Good Long.

Mr. Long was a member of the Red River Valley Tractor Club and was a Presbyterian. He worked most of his life as a mechanic and truck driver. 'Cotton' was a good husband, father and friend who will be greatly missed.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Mavis; six children, Joe, Tom, Ted, Tony, Jean and Rickey; two sisters, Nancy Wear and Lee Gaines; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 15 nieces; 12 nephews; five cousins; and several great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1936, his mother in 1970, five brothers, Monroe in 1965, Houston in 1975, Tom in 1983, John in 1991 and Bill in 1996.

Pallbearers will be Alan, Corkey and Jerry Whitley, Lonnie Ray Corn, Jackie Good and Jerry Millsap.

Honorary pallbearers are Jesse Watson, W. T. Newberry, David Buster, Bill Barber, Tony Winn and Ned Jenkins.
