Bio

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." ╰☆╮ ~Vivian Greene

I've taken over a large number of memorials from a few inactive and deceased contributors. I'm trying to work through them to update them and add info but it will take a while. I welcome any edits and bio suggestions that you wish to send.

Since the move to Ancestry and the new website, newspaper obituaries, death certificates and other scanned documentation is allowed. We encourage members to move the images down to the bottom of the photo display so that they are not the first thing you see when viewing a memorial page.
Thank you, Find a Grave Administration

Newspaper obits can and should be published on FAG but please give credit to the newspaper. And if transcribing, PLEASE, double-check for typos. It should run as written.

From another Graver:
I recently contacted Management about the explosion of unwanted records and other photos that do not belong on memorials. This was their response:

"The photos section of a memorial page is only to be used for photos of the deceased and photos of their grave."

"The photo area is ONLY to be used for photos of the person, their grave, their family, their house, etc. A scan of your grandmother's manuscript would be perfectly acceptable in the photo area, because it is an image that is personally attached to the deceased."

WARNING - If you request changes by sending to my email, they will be deleted without action. ALL CHANGES must be requested using the edit button on the appropriate memorial.

If requested to adjust inscription spacing, it will be declined and left as is. Sorry.

I will not transfer any memorials if relationship is not listed. If it is not listed in the email, I will ask one time for relationship.

ALWAYS explain YOUR RELATIONSHIP in the request! Keep in mind that the memorial manager may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. You may also want to include your specific interest in the memorial.

If you are reading this because you think that edits aren't being done in a timely manner, please be patient. Yes, I'm still an active member. We as managers have twenty (20) days to accept or not accept each suggestion.

I take care of edits first. Then I get to the email suggestions as I have time. Please be patient.
If you send an edit thru the tab on the memorial please don't send the same edit thru 'other suggestions'. This action will not get your suggestion taken care of quicker.

There is no need for snide and angry remarks.

When I receive an edit, I research ALL records available and will add whatever is necessary. I crop, focus, straighten all images before posting, to show respect for the deceased and their families. Please don't add an array of poor quality images out of respect for the deceased's family. I desire to make each memorial I manage as attractive and pleasing as possible.

PLEASE DO NOT ADD INFORMATION TO THE FLOWER SECTION...IT MAKES IT LOOK VERY TACKY!!! Send an edit if you have something to add

I usually don't read the comments from memorial managers about suggested edits they have declined. There's just so much bile and meanness. (borrowed from another member of Findagrave)

I don't estimate birth years. The relatives of the dearly departed not only could get the date of death wrong on the monument but the age at death. Too many people take anything they find on the Internet as gospel, and I will not contribute to that bad habit. (Borrowed from another FAG Contributor)

****If you volunteer on Findagrave and decide you no longer want to maintain the memorials you manage, please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and willing to take over the records. I am one of many willing to take over records. This really will help reduce duplicates. It would also be a good idea to leave someone instructions on how to make these transfers should you go inactive without warning.***** Thank You (Borrowed from another FAG Contributor)

For those contributors who take it upon themselves to be the Findagrave police, adding a please and thank you would go a long way.
