Father: Rev. Samuel Leander Westerfield (Westervelt) (140685559) (son of Jacobus (Westervelt) Westerfield and Maria DeMaree was born February 18, 1760 in New York, New York, and died February 8, 1832 in Eaton, Ohio (Preble County) at the Preble County Infirmary. Rev. Samuel Leander Westerfield married Catherine Monfort on February 28, 1782 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. They had twelve children together. Rev. Samuel Leander Westerfield died at age 71y, 11 mo, 20 days and is buried at the Preble County Infirmary Cemetery (Preble County Home Cemetery) in Eaton, Ohio.

Mother: Catherine Monfort Westerfield (5470482) (b. February 26, 1762 in Hunterdon, New Jersey, d. July 17, 1844 in Knoxville, Illinois (Knox County). She is buried at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois (Knox County). Her Father was Pieter Monfoort and Mother was Johanna Langestraat.

Wife: Sallie VanWinkle (141861957) ( b. 1798 d. 1830 in Wayne County, Indiana). She died at age 32.

i. Stephen Westerfield (40206860) (b. March 1, 1818 in Preble County, Ohio, d. February 3, 1860 in Peoria County, Illinois. Stephen Westerfield was buried in Washington, Illinois (Tazewell County). Stephen Westerfield married Margaret Ann Shull (later Westerfield and Sodar) (b. 1820 in Virginia; d. After 1880 in Washington, Illinois (Tazewell County). They were married on August 4, 1842 in Hamilton, Ohio (Butler County). By 1849 the family lived in Huntington County, Indiana and is seen there in the 1850 Census. In 1851, Stephen, his wife and children relocated to Peoria, Illinois (Peoria County). They had six children together.

After Stephen's death, Margaret is recorded in the 1861 Peoria City Directory as a widow. Son, Jacob is also recorded in the same 1861 Peoria City Census. Margaret Ann Shull Westerfield, a widow, married again in Iroquois County, Illinois on August 4, 1867 to Casper Sodar (born in Germany about 1822). The Westerfield children retained their last name. In the 1880 Census, Margaret Ann Shull Westerfield Sodar was in Washington, Illinois (Tazewell County).

Jacob Hansel Westerfield was born in October, 1843 in Ohio. He died in March, 1912 in Stanford, Illinois (McLean County). He married Nancy Elizabeth Neal Westerfield (57704423) and they had six children.

ii. Margaret "Maggie" A. Westerfield Neal (53450185) (b. 1872 in Eureka, Wood, Illinois; d. January 5, 1952 in Kinmundy, Illinois (Marion County). Margaret is buruied at Phillips Cemetery in Omega, Illinois (Marion County). Margaret married Thomas A. Neal. They lived in Meacham, Illinois (Marion County). They had at least six children.

iii. Martha Jane Westerfield Woodrum (10421120) (b. May 4, 1876 in Eureka, Wood, Illinois; d. February 28, 1925 in Waynesville, Illinois (DeWitt County). Martha married John W. Woodrum. They had one son:

2. Samuel Nathan Westerfield (22076584) (b. August, 1844 in Butler County, Ohio; d. in April 21, 1921 in Peoria, Illinois). Samuel Nathan Westerfield is buried at Princeville Township Cemetery in Peoria County, Illinois. Samuel Nathan Westerfield was a Soldier of the Civil War, and was engaged in several of the most terrific battles of the rebellion. He had been a resident of Duncan, Illinois for thirty-five years. Samuel Nathan Westerfield married Nancy Springer (142752736) on July 6, 1868 in Metamora, Illinois (Woodford County) They lived their lives in Woodford County, Illinois and they had six children together. One son remains unknown.

She possibly married Bernard Sealer on April 6, 1863 in Tazewell County, Illinois. She had a son, Noah Westerfield (b. 1875; d. 1926 in Ann Arbor, Michigan). Mary Magdaline Westerfield was not married when Noah Westerfield was born.

4. John H. Westerfield (b. 1849 in Huntington County, Indiana; d. July 5, 1912 in Fairview, Ford County, Kansas). His death information was recorded under the name of John Westerfried. In 1850, John is found with the family in Huntington County, Indiana at age 1. In 1860, John is found with the family in Peoria County, Illinois. In 1870, John Sodar (age 21) is found in Tazewell County, Illinois living with his mother and stepfather, Casper Sodar . In 1880, John is again found with his mother and stepfather in Washington, Tazewell County, Illinois. John is said to be blind and can't read or write in this census. In 1900, John is found living with his brother, Harvey, in Sweet & Troy Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota. In 1910, John is found living with his sister, Elizabeth Ann "Hallie" (Westerfield) Parker, and her family in Fairview, Ford County, Kansas. John is still said to be blind and can't read or write. It is believed that John H. Westerfield was never married.

5. Elizabeth Ann “Hallie” Westerfield Parker (60569309) (b. 1951 in Peoria, Illinois; d. October 31, 1930 in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas). She married William H. Parker on December 25, 1874 in Tazewell County, Illinois. In 1910 Census they were living in Fairview, Ford County, Kansas. Sometime after 1912 they moved to Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas. They had twelve children together.

6. Harvey Anthony Westerfield (32582906) (b. July 12, 1855 in Peoria, Illinois; d. June 4, 1937 in Lewistown, Montana (Fergus County). He married Flora Belle McCoy Westerfield (32583650) in Washington, Illinois (Tazewell County) in 1881. Shortly after the birth of their 5th child the family moved to Pipestone County, Minnesota where they resided until 1910. After 1910 he relocated again to Fergus County, Montana where he lived for the remainder of his life. His grave is at Sugar Grove Cemetery in West Alexandria, Ohio (Preble County). The inscription says: buried at Clarksville, Tennessee.
