Laura married Harold M. Fearing who had been her school teacher in her last years in the country grade school.
Harold built a home for his family on the 80 acres of land across the road from where his parents lived.
Harold and Laura Fearing had 8 children: Eva L., Clarence Walker, Olin K., Bascom C., Albert H., Ellen P., Alice L. and Frederick C. Fearing, all outliving their parents.
Laura moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1922, after her husband died, so that her children could attend the University of Kansas. She was a widow for over 40 years.
Laura's church was important to her and in 1941 she took a 4-year Menninger Bible course, receiving a certificate at the age of 73.
She also liked gardening and some of her peony roots are still producing flowers for her grandchildren.
Both Laura and Harold are buried in Shaffer Cemetery just 1 3/4 miles from their farm land where they spent most of their married life.
