"Mr. C. P. Edmunds-After an illiness of some two weeks duration, Mr. C. P. Edmunds died on Friday last, of bronchitis. Mr. Edmunds was a native, born and raised, of Barren county. He was born here December 24, 1811, and died March 23, 1883 being at the time of his death in his seventy-second year. Mr. Edmunds was a man who will be missed by his neighborhood, and sincerely mourned by all who knew him. He was a good neighbor, a true friend, devoted husband and father and a most earnest, unassuming Christian. For 35 years he had been an Elder in the Christian church, exemplifying by his daily walk and conduct the beauties of religion. In his death, the county losses an honored, respected citizen, the church a beloved member, and his large circle of relatives whose place can never be filled."
The birth and death dates are also confirmed by the Edmunds Bible that was contributed by Martha Powell Harrison and was photocopied by Robert Cooney of Nashville, Tennessee. It was last known to be in the possession of Bryant Ralston Edmunds of Barren County, Kentucky. This Bible cannot now be located.
