From the records of The Painted Hills Genealogy Society, St Mary’s Cemetery, located on Park Avenue, town of Corning, Steuben, County, NY.

According to the 1900 U.S. Census, 1849 is listed as immigration year. The Census of 1870 lists John as working in the tanning industry and Catharine as a housekeeper -- neither could read or write -- John is listed as a United States citizen -- value of personal estate: $200.

Cameron County Press (Emporium, PA) -- Thursday, February 28, 1907

COLLINS.
Mr. John Collins, aged 77 years, formerly residing in Emporium with his daughter, Mrs. R.C. Dodson, died at Austin on Tuesday morning at the residence of his son. The funeral took place early yesterday morning at Austin, the remains being taken to Corning, N.Y., the burial taking place this (Thursday) morning. Mrs. Dodson attended the funeral with other brothers and sisters.

John Collins, a former resident of Campbell, died at the home of his son, Daniel Collins, at Austin, Pa., Tuesday (2/26/07) forenoon, after a few days illness. The remains were brought to Corning Thursday forenoon for burial.

He leaves ten children, four sons and six daughters, one of whom is Mrs. A. T. Joint, of Savona. The sons are: Daniel and Michael, of Austin. Pa.; William of Galeton; John, of Mina, Pa.; two daughters live in Coudersport, Pa., Mrs. Stephen McCabe and Mrs. James Kelly; also Mrs. Robert Dodson, of Emporium, Pa.; Mrs. John Smith, of Binghamton and Mrs. John Diamond, of Oneonta, N.Y.
