George V. Desrosiers, died Sunday (December 14, 2008), at his home in his 96th year. Proud to be born an American citizen on the 4th of July, 1913, Victor was the seventh of 15 children of Mary King and Joseph Desrosiers. Never forgetting the country of his birth, he left Canada in 1937 to marry the love of his life, Anita Sullivan. He leaves her now remembering their 69 years of marriage and surrounded by their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends. He resided most of their 69 years in Hartford and Wethersfield. For his 38 years in Wethersfield, one of his greatest pleasures was to raise the flag daily not only at his home, but also at the Little Red Schoolhouse. During World War II, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as a Chief Boatswain's Mate. He worked for 37 years for Pratt & Whitney, retiring in 1978 as the Fire Chief of the United Technologies Research Center. He was a longtime communicant of Corpus Christi Church and St. Peter's Church. Left to cherish the memory of a good family man are his children: Valerie and Donald Guay of Newington; James and Kathleen Desrosiers of Bath, NY; Sharon Desrosiers of Ft. Myers, FL; William and Linda Desrosiers of Wethersfield; and Robert and Christa Desrosiers of Coxsackie, NY. He joins the company of his son, Victor who died in 2003 and his parents and many brothers and sisters. He leaves also his sister Eva Moisan and his brother Armand Desrosiers of Quebec, Canada. He was very proud of his 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with whom he spent many enjoyable times. He leaves also a large extended family and friends in Canada. The Funeral will be Thursday, December 18, 9:15 a.m. from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpke. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy. Wethersfield. Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery.
