Helen Ann 'Anita' Desrosiers in her 96th year, of Wethersfield, died February 21, 2013 in Ft. Myers, FL. Anita was born in Hartford, July 26, 1917 to John Sullivan and Essie Stevens Sullivan. She graduated from St. Peter's School and Bulkeley High School. Married for 69 years to George V. Desrosiers, she cherished her family, was devoted to her Roman Catholic faith as a communicant of St Peter's and Corpus Christi churches and as a Dominican Tertiary, and was proud of her 20 years of service as a Crossing Guard for the City of Hartford. She loved to celebrate her Irish heritage and her familial connections to Quebec. Everyone will miss her but will not mourn, as she was so full of life and would rather we all sing, tell funny G-ma stories, or play games together. Remaining here to celebrate her life are sons and daughters Valerie and Donald Guay of Newington CT, Jim and Kathy Desrosiers of Hammondsport NY, Sharon Desrosiers of Ft. Myers FL, William and Linda Desrosiers of Wethersfield, and Robert and Christa Desrosiers of Coxsackie NY. Joining them are 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 6 great-grandchildren, two cousins Dorothy Greenly of Henniker NH and Vincent Tortorelli of Milton MA, and family and friends in the USA and Canada. She has gone to join her loved ones especially her devoted husband and her treasured oldest son Victor.
The funeral will be Monday, March 4, 2013, 9:15 a.m. from the Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial will be at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. Friends may call Sunday, March 3rd, 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Hospice 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908 or any local hospice.
