Died after 25 Jul 1872. Marriage license for the marriage of her daughter Ellen Ann Yates to Rev. Thomas Settle Whittington lists bride's mother as Nancy Yates "alive". Also newspaper article announcing the wedding states it was held at the home of the bride's mother.

Originally assumed to be buried in Pleasant Garden Methodist Church cemetery with her husband, but research in 2021 proved otherwise.

Feb 2021 Research Update - Familysearch.org website has digital copy of "Kansas Cemetery Abstracts" book. Important Note: The Kansas Cemetery Abstracts book (858 total pages) has North Carolina Cemetery Abstracts in it starting on page 366! These books were typed by the Genealogical Society of Salt Lake City in 1947. The book includes the following listing for the Jonesville City Cemetery, Jonesville, Yadkin County NC on page 831 (page 253 of the separate North Carolina book):

YATES Nancy, b. 30 Aug 1810 d. 11 Mar 1875 Wife of Henny [Henry] Yates

Nancy Sherwood Yates was the mother of Ellen Ann Yates Whittington, who is also buried in the Jonesville City cemetery. Ellen Yates Whittington was living in Jonesville at the time of her death in 1879. It is likely that Nancy Sherwood Yates was living/visiting with her daughter at the time of her death in 1875.

I have been looking for proof of her burial site for years and just happened across this book!
