Longtime Newberry resident, Florence C. (McPherson) Caswell, 101, died Monday evening June 30, 2014 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

Born July 7, 1912 in Petoskey, daughter of the late William & Anna (Tyler) Groh, Florence had been a resident of Newberry since 1935. In addition to being a devoted homemaker raising her family, she enjoyed camping,

Longtime Newberry resident, Florence C. (McPherson) Caswell, 101, died Monday evening June 30, 2014 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

Born July 7, 1912 in Petoskey, daughter of the late William & Anna (Tyler) Groh, Florence had been a resident of Newberry since 1935. In addition to being a devoted homemaker raising her family, she enjoyed camping, quilting, canning, baking donuts and playing cards. Florence was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Newberry.

In addition to her parents, Florence is preceded in death by her son Fred McPherson, great-granddaughter Jasmine McPherson and siblings Beatrice, Ethel, Violet, Frances, Melvina, an infant daughter, William, Virgil, Everett, Floyd and George.

Survivors include her children Loretta Clement of Marquette, Christine Monck of Newberry, Walt (Rosetta) McPherson of Kingsley and Sam (Patsy) McPherson of Engadine; several step-children; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister Marcella Ford of Newberry.

Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Saturday July 5, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with David Fair presiding. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.
