Services were held for Bessie J. Belka, 83, Verdigre at Brockhaus Funeral Chapel in Verdigre, Friday, May 6 at 2 p.m. Rev. Olin Belt officiated with interment a Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Bessie J. Belka was born January 15, 1900 at Walnut, NE. to Willie G. and Rosa May Butterfield Cook.

She died Tuesday, May 3 1983 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton at the age of 83 years, three months and 28 days.

She attended rural Knox county school. December 31, 1919, she married Frank F. Belka at Center. They made their home on a farm west of Verdigre all their married life.

Bessie continued living on the family farm after her husband's death in 1972.

She is survived by her children; Raymond and Delores Belka, Doris (Gordon) Hamilton of Verdigre and Dorothy (Wm.) Cedar of Creighton; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Gladys Woodworth of Creighton and Grace Woodworth of Verdigre and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Orval Cook, a sister, Lelia Grimm and a daughter, Verna May in 1928.
