OBITUARY: Ray Belka
VERDIGRE - Services for Ray Belka, 83, of Verdigre will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
He died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Alpine Village.

Raymond Frank Belka was born on April 24, 1924, at Walnut to Frank and Bessie (Cook) Belka. He grew to manhood on the family farm where he spent his entire life. He attended School District 57.
He started farm work early in life due to his father's illness. He did some farm work for neighbors and worked several years at the Verdigre Livestock Market. He continued farming and raising cattle over the years until his failing health prevented it. He still enjoyed watching the progress of cattle and farming operations until the past year when it became very difficult to get about.
Raymond died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Alpine Village in Verdigre at the age of 83 after being there only one day. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family up to the time of his death. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
He is survived by sisters Doris Hamilton and Delores Belka of Verdigre, brother-in-law Bill Cedar of Creighton, two nieces and six nephews, many great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece and his farming friend Jerry Konopasek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Verna May, his youngest sister Dorothy Cedar and one niece Kathy Gallatin Underwood.
