Mr. Swartz is survived by a companion Joyce McMillan of Upper Sandusky, three daughters Paula (Mike) Hurley, North Royalton, OH, Marsha (Jerry) Thomas, Upper Sandusky, OH, Brenda (Bill) Burks, Colorado Springs, CO, 7 grandchildren Jonathan (Glinda) Hurley, Melissa Hurley, Sean (Julie) Thomas, Nici (Jeran) Pollock, Billy Burks, Bryan (Jen) Burks, Brett (Windy) Burks, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a sister Ruthanna Pieplow.
He is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, a great grandchild, five sisters: Mary Bixler, Cora Larcomb, Ida Clark, Thelma Cook, Beulah Hoerr, and a brother, Harold F. "Jack" Swartz.
Mr. Swartz was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran serving in the 367 bomb squad. He worked for the former John Deere Store of Upper Sandusky for 50 plus years. Mr. Swartz was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ and was a deacon for two years. Paul was a member of the VFW #2842, American Legion #225, National Rifle Association and a charter member of the Wyandot County Sportsman Club. Mr. Swartz was an avid gardner. For hobbies he enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday April 30, 2014 at 11:00am in Emanuel United Church of Christ with Rev. Martin L. Stiffler officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:30am-11:00am at the church. Burial will be private at Old Mission Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by Upper Sandusky Veteran Color Guard. Paul's request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel United Church of Christ in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
