Christian Hemler, Jr., was born about 1776 in present-day Adams County, then York County, Pennsylvania. He married Catherine, whose maiden name is unknown, and had at least one child while living near Conewago Township, Pennsylvania.

1) "24 novembr 1796 23 decembr 1796 anna maria joseph hemler filia christian hemler patr joseph et margareta weivel" (Conewago Chapel Baptismal Register page 20)

This first daughter is not listed in the 1800 US Census, where Christian Hemler is living in Alexandria, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania with two free white males aged 17-26, one free white male aged 27-45, and one free white female aged 17-26, presumably his wife. It is not clear which age category Christian falls into, although likely the younger, nor is it known who the other two males are.

At least two of Christian and Catherine's children were baptized at the Catholic church in Loretto, I believe the nearest church at the time, although it was about 40 miles from Alexandria.

2) Elisabeth Hemler was baptized in 1806 at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Loretto, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

3) Henry Hemler was baptized in 1808 at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Loretto, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.

4) Christian Hemler, III, was born May 8, 1809. (Father Peter Helborn's Greensburg Register)

He cannot be located in the 1810 or subsequent US Censuses, and his last known child was born in 1809.
