"Departed this life, on Sunday, the 2d day of April inst. at McSherrystown, of Pulmonary Consumption, Mrs. CATHARINE GINTER, wife of Nicholas Ginter, in the 64th year of her age." (Republican Compiler, Monday, April 17, 1843)

Catharine, called "Mary Catherine" in her mother's will, was born between 1778 and 1779 to Christian Hemler, Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Baker. She may or may not be the youngest child, as her mother's will mentions four daughters, but only names three.

During the 1800 US Census, Nicholas Guinter was living in Germany, Adams County, Pennsylvania with two free white males aged 10-16, possibly hired help, and one free white female aged 26-45, presumably Catharine.

In an 1801 assessment of Conewago Township, Nicholas Ginder is listed as a property owner with a value of $178, and as married. Nicholas Ginter was one of the first traders, or store-keepers, of the township in about 1804. ('History of Cumberland and Adams Counties, Pennsylvania' Chicago: Warner, Beers & Co., 1886.) (Reily, John T., 'History and Directory of the Boroughs of Gettysburg, Oxford, Littlestown, York Springs, Berwick, and East Berlin, Adams County PA with Historical Collections,' J.E. Wible Printer, Gettysburg, 1880.)

According to the US Federal Census Mortality Index, Nicholas Ginter, 76, a hatter of Conewago Township, died of palsy in May of 1850.
