Rose King, 70, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:20 am at her home following an extend illness and surrounded by her family.

Rosie was born April 11, 1944, the sixteenth of seventeen children born to Ita (Gosser) and General W. Eades, Sr. and the first one to be born in a hospital. She was raised in Bement, Illinois and graduated from Bement High School in 1962. She worked at the local grocery store and then at Kraft in Champaign, Illinois where she met Martin D. King. They were married in the Monticello Church of God on October 5, 1968.

Rosie loved her family. She is survived by her husband Marty of Monticello, and their daughter Cindy (her husband Todd) Olson of Appleton, Wisconsin. Also surviving are siblings: Glenn Eades of Greenup, Junior (Betty) Eades of Lodge, Zelma Spencer of Decatur, Ronnie (Dinah) Eades of Weldon, John Eades and Dick (Nettie) Eades, of Monticello, and Paul Eades of Argenta. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Arnet, Garnet, Les, Tom, Jim Eades, Velma Jarrell, Virginia Huff, Wilma Davis, and Cynthia Eades.

From 1980-2000, Rosie was the Site Supervisor for the Peace Meal Senior Nutrition Program in Monticello. Every weekday she sent the home delivery drivers out, rang the bell for prayer at Noon, and helped the kitchen volunteers serve. All who came to were fed - Rosie made sure of it. And after the work was done, there might be a card game. Rosie thought nature was peaceful and particularly enjoyed watching birds. She also loved music. For her, no one would ever compare to Vestal Goodman or Patsy Cline. She enjoyed reading. Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23. Rosie was a woman who loved well and will be dearly missed.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello with Rev. Russell Brewer officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 5-8 pm at Calvary Baptist Church and prior to the service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to A Small Hand - Piatt County Infant Needs and Diaper Pantry, or to Calvary Baptist Church, Monticello. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery. Arrangemtns handled by Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington, Illinois.
